Rewers
The reverse of the coloured coin features the silhouette of an adult Emu accompanied by five chicks, following along its left side. The posture of the Emu reflects the strength and protectiveness of the male, who, despite the harsh conditions, ensures the safety and parental care of its chicks in the demanding, wild Australian environment. The focus in the Emu's eyes conveys concern and a commitment to providing security for the vulnerable young. The background depicts an expansive desert, adding realism and emphasizing the wildness of the Australian landscape, with the intense sun enhancing the impression of a hot, inhospitable climate that poses a daily challenge for the inhabitants of the Australian outback. On the reverse side, there is information about the year of issue, the metal's purity, the coin's weight, and the inscription "AUSTRALIAN EMU." The stunning reverse design was created by artist Neil Hollis. Additionally, the design features a security measure in the form of a "P" engraved letter, which not only serves as a unique anti-counterfeit protection but also indicates that The Perth Mint is the issuer of the coin.
Awers
Since 2024, the obverse of the silver coin features the image of King Charles III, who ascended to the throne after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022. The obverse design includes the inscription "CHARLES III" along with information about the issuing country and the coin's face value, as well as the initials of the talented designer, Dan Thorne. The likeness of King Charles III was officially approved by His Majesty King Charles III.
