The reverse of the coin depicts a mother emu and baby emu resting among Australia's characteristic wilderness. The design of the reverse was prepared by Neil Hollis, who amazingly depicted every detail of the bird's plumage, giving the impression of feathers moving in the wind. Additionally, the reverse contains information about the weight, fineness, year of issue and the “P” mintmark of The Perth Mint.
Obverse
The obverse of the coin shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. On the obverse are included inscriptions such as "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and monetary denomination. The designer of the obverse was Jody Clark.
